About Us
About Dunklin Fire Rescue District
Dunklin Fire Rescue District was founded in 1968 by dedicated volunteers to meet the growing need for fire protection in the southern area of Greenville County. More than five decades later, that same volunteer spirit remains at the heart of our department.
We are a combination department, operating with both part-time career staff and a strong volunteer force, and we still rely heavily on the commitment and service of our volunteers. Many of our members are also full-time emergency service professionals in neighboring agencies, bringing valuable experience and advanced training back to our community.
Our Coverage Area
Our fire district spans 44.24 square miles and serves approximately 4,500 residents across southern Greenville County. We operate eight emergency response apparatus to ensure we are prepared for fire suppression, rescue operations, and medical emergencies.
Staffing & Operations
Dunklin Fire Rescue stations are staffed:
- Monday through Wednesday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Thursday through Sunday: 24-hour staffing
This staffing model allows us to provide consistent coverage while continuing our progression toward a fully staffed 24/7 career operation.
Our department is comprised of approximately 41 volunteer members and part-time staff, all trained to meet professional emergency response standards.
Our Emergency Response Mission
At Dunklin Fire Rescue District, we are dedicated to delivering rapid, professional, and effective emergency response services. Our highly trained team is equipped to handle a wide range of incidents, from structural fires and vehicle accidents to medical emergencies and rescue operations. We take pride in our quick response times, continuous training, and unwavering commitment to community safety.
Community & Regional Partnership
We proudly work alongside our neighboring departments:
- Canebrake Fire Department
- Hickory Tavern Fire Department
- Friendship Fire Department
- South Greenville Fire Department
Through mutual aid and regional cooperation, we ensure no call for help ever stands alone.
Training
