Starting as a Junior in 2008, Chief Scott received all his introductory fire training at DFRD. He is now a contract Fire Captain/Paramedic for the US Government.

Chief Creamer  started in 2007 as a junior. He is now a Captain at Trinity Fire Department in Spartanburg County, and a member of the Greenville County Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Team.

Captain Hatcher started in 2004 and has retired from the City of Mauldin Fire Department as a Engineer.

FF Camp started as a junior, and took full advantage of the program from the moment he walked into the door, becoming fully certified before graduating high school. He was recently employed by the city Fountain Inn Fire Department.

FF Davis started out as a junior, and took as many classes as he could. He also participated and passed our inhouse EMT program. He is now a employed by Canebrake Fire Department full time as a Shift Leader.

FAQ's

Who Can Volunteer?

Anyone aged 14 and up without any major medical issues, and who can perform work under harsh conditions, and lives within 8 miles of any of our 3 stations.

Do I have to take classes?

Yes! We provide all the training needed to not only help you excel as a volunteer, but can provide enough training to get you hired on at a paid department. 

What about medical training?

We have that too! We offer our members free medical training, starting with CPR and First Aid, then moving up to Emergency Medical Responder, and ending with Basic Emergency Medical Technician.

How much time will I need?

We ask that you give us one day a month, and a few Saturdays a year. All of the certification classes are scheduled throughout different times of the year, and are anywhere between 40 to 140 hours.

So how does it all work once I sign up?

We will review your application, and it we decide your a good fit, we will contact you to set up an orientation.
